1900 to today

Greenes in Ballycotton - 1854 to 1898

1854-1862

William Green, my great great grandfather, arrives in Australia (with or without Bridget Duggan, his wife-to-be). No trace in shipping records.

1862 - Michael marries

Michael Green marries Ellen Murphy, from Kilkenny, in Beaufort with William Green and Ellen Kelly as witnesses. Occupation miner. (Births of their children recorded elsewhere).

1863 - William marries

William Green marries Bridget Duggan, (daughter of Patrick Duggan and Bridget Condon, Clare), in Beaufort, with Michael Green as witness. Occupation miner. (Births of their children recorded elsewhere).
According to Albert, Duggan is an old name in Killard, south Clare, but the Duggans have died out.

1876 - Anne marries

Marriage of Anne Green (born c.1856 - daughter of Thomas, Ballycotton same Thomas as 1855 above?) & Patrick Shannon.
'Return of owners of land of one acre and upwards in County Clare'.
Cahir, Patrick: Kells, Corofin
Greene, George: Liscannor
Greene, Mrs. Lucy, Michael M.D., and Thomas: Ennis
Hynes in Tulla and Burrin.

1879

Tombstone George Greene (Rosemount?) born 1811. Wife Margaret died 1885 (born 1810). Son William died at seven years.

1885

Luke Greene died in Ballycotton at the age of 87. (Death certificate 229) A William Greene, Ballycotton, was present at his death. William's signature is remarkably like my great grandfather William's signature (though of course they are unlikely to be the same person, living in Ireland and Australia respectively)
Tombstone Thomas Greene (born 1821). Wife Mary died 1931 (born 1834). Children Thomas 1868 1905, Michael 1864 1944, Mary 1912 1990, Patrick 1901 1997.

1886

Tombstone - Austin Greene (born 1790? oldest Greene recorded here). His mother Mary died 1887, born 1803 (obviously some error here check tombstone of Austin & Minnie again)

1892

Wedding in Clare of William Green (1870- ?) (grandson of Luke) to (?) Kelly. Photograph held by William's grandson, Patrick.

1898

Tombstone Patrick (son of Michael, born 1871), Mary (daughter, 1834 1901)
